DIY Doll Slippers Tutorial

DIY Doll Slippers Tutorial

I recently made my sister a doll's wardrobe and decided to make some more stuff for her dolls. So I decided to make some slippers for her dolls. Here is how I made them.

Requirements:

Craft Foam or Felt
Small soft hair bands
Needle and thread
Scissors

Instructions:

Step 1: Draw a template of the dolls foot. Then extend the drawing slightly as the photograph shows.

Step 2: Using the template cut out a piece of foam for the base of the slipper.

Step 3: Attach the large hair band to the foam sole - sewing around the edges.

Step 4: Then place this onto the dolls foot and then sew the front part of the hair band together making the front of the slipper. See photograph above.

Step 5: Using the smaller hair band, sew this to the foot opening part of the slipper.

Step 6: If you wish to add extra decoration then sew onto the front of the slipper, I like to add bows or bobbles onto the front.

Step 7: Repeat these steps for the second slipper to make a pair.

The photograph above shows some of the other designs I have made using the same technique.

Here is where I got my inspiration from and a video that helped me understand how to sew these slippers: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-pWGtS-n3Ec

Sea Glass Necklaces

sea glass necklaces jewellery

I have been really busy these last few weeks making Sea Glass Jewellery. I originally made some from a few pieces I was given to practice with. A lot of my friends and my mum's friends wanted to buy some, that I have had to travel a few times to the beach myself to search and collect the Sea Glass personally. I have been quite surprised at the big interest I have had from everybody and I am really thinking about doing this as a small business I can do in my spare time.

I have made most from clear glass but have also made some from green glass. I have found a few unique coloured pieces of glass which I need to think about what to do with them.  Below are some photographs of the necklaces that I have made so far.

I can either give them in a small organza bag or for a little extra I will supply in a nice gift box.

I have also made some necklaces with beads not just sea glass.

Here are some photographs of the beach where I find my sea glass.

I am really enjoying making these and I am so happy that my friends like them too.

Library Crafts - scratch and canvas art

I have been doing a few crafts at our local library. They provide all the crafts, canvas and paints that we use for free which is great. The photo above shows some scratch art that I recently did.

The photos below are some canvas art that I have also done at the library.

Sea Glass Jewellery Making

I have been busy this last week making jewellery pieces. I was inspired to start making jewellery after visiting a craft stall last Sunday. I bought some cheap jewellery from a charity shop and dismantled it to make other pieces of jewellery with it. I made some lovely earrings for myself and loved the wiring work that was done on it. Then on Thursday I popped into another craft shop which had a lot of sea glass jewellery and had a lovely chat with the owner. She gave me a free demonstration on how to do the wiring and gave me a few pieces of sea glass for me to practice with. I went home and started working on them straight away. The photograph above shows the pieces of sea glass that I have wire wrapped.

The photograph above shows the original necklace I bought at a charity shop and also a pair of earrings that I made from the parts of the necklace. I managed to make 3 pairs of earrings and a couple of necklaces from that one necklace.

The photograph above shows me working on the jewellery.

Today I went to the beach to look for some sea glass ( see the photograph above) and came home with a lot of different shades.

The photograph below shows the original crystal that I bought at the craft fair that had inspired me to start making my own jewellery. I attached some wiring and added a chain.

The lady who ran the craft stall that first inspired me has her own online business - here is her link. https://www.etsy.com/shop/aghartajewellery

The lady who gave me some free sea glass and a demonstration has her own facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/surfandsilver

I hope you liked my jewellery making attempts. Hopefully after a few more practices I will be able to do more designs insha'Allah.

Hair Designs

I can't believe it has been 10 months since my last post about hair designs. Since then my mum bought me a professional hairdressing training head so I can have more time to practice my designs.

The designs below are ones I have done on my little sister.

The designs below are ones I have done on my little sister and also the one in the bottom left hand corner is a design I did on myself.
