Acrylic Framed Painting in Exhibition

I shared a post a while back of a painting I did using acrylic paints. I have now had this painting framed and it has been hanging up in a local art exhibition. I am hoping I can sell this piece after it has been on display.

As a reminder here is a photograph showing me painting this particular one.

More Doodling Book

I have been doing some more drawings in my doodling book. I haven't done many other crafts recently as I have been a bit poorly so drawing is all I have been doing lately. I hope you like my designs, I am still trying to learn how to perfect these.

Doodling Book

I recently bought a small book from the craft store to do some doodling in when I am out and about or when I don't have much to do. I thought I would share with you some of my drawings I have made. I just draw them with a pencil and then I have gone over them at home with coloured pencils.

Below are some of the photos more close up.

I hope you like my designs.

crochet jar cozy

I have been doing a bit of crochet again recently. I decided to make some jar cozies to use for my hot drinks now that the cold weather has arrived.  I have used jars I no longer needed so a bit of recycling there.  These were fairly simple ones, just a rectangle piece joined to fit the size of jar you want to cover.  I added a little bit of decoration onto them to make them look prettier.  Hope you like them.

Below are some photos of ones I have done in the past.

My Art Supplies Case

Sharing with you my latest Art Supplies Case I now have. I used an old bargain buy make-up case on wheels to now store my painting supplies when I go out to my classes.

I saw this for second hand case on wheels for sale and couldn't resist buying it to use for all my paints, especially now I have a lot more since winning the art supplies hamper in the competition I told you about in my last post.  It has lots of storage spaces to keep things separate. I have a section just for paints, section for pencils, section for brushes, section for paper etc.  I am really pleased I saw this item to buy. It is lightweight and easy to move about so I can take it out with me. Some of the items from my win below are now in the case. http://www.slhcrafts.com/2015/11/art-competition-winner.html

Art Competition Winner

I wrote a blog post a few months back about a piece of art I did with the theme 'Alice in Wonderland'. Here is the original link: http://www.slhcrafts.com/2015/09/alice-in-wonderland-crafts.html

I found out last month that I was chosen as a winner in the competition and was invited along to an opening of a new Art Gallery in our City where I would also receive my prize. Unfortunately I wasn't able to make the official opening but I was invited along today to see my work in the gallery and receive my prize. I won a £100 hamper of Art Supplies. I am really happy that I won and love the prize too.

T-shirt Cushion

I wanted to have some extra cushions for my bed and couldn't find any designs that I liked. I had some t-shirts that I didn't wear anymore so decided to use them to make some cushion covers. What do you think of this particular design?

Wire and Nail Varnish Art

I saw something similar online and thought that i would be able to try that myself with my craft pieces.  I used the jewellery wire I had and some different nail varnishes for this piece of art.

Easy Tutorial:

I simply used 9 pieces of wire. I then left 3 pieces together and then wrapped the remaining pieces around those to make the tree shape, leaving the 3 pieces long enough to make legs/stand. Then I made a loop/leaf shape at the ends of the branches. The bottom 3 pieces I twisted to make into legs to make the tree stand.  Spread out the pieces of wire to make them look like branches.  I then used nail varnish to paint over the loops to give a wonderfully colourful design.

I hope you like this.

Watercolor Bird

This last week I finished off the Watercolor bird I have been painting. I practiced drawing a few birds at first and then when I was happy with one of them I then painted it. I then bought a frame to put it in. I hope you like it.

Acrylic Painting

This past week I have been trying Acrylic painting instead of watercolours. I like the vivid colours that this painting has. I started doing this painting in the art club that I recently joined. The photo below shows me when I first started doing this piece.

Cute Squirrel Keyring

I decided to make a project using some felt this week because my little sister was also using the felt to make her own project.  I chose to make a cute squirrel keyring with some bright coloured felt.

I didn't follow any tutorials for this, I simply cut out the design by freehand and worked with what fabric I had in the house. All that was needed was some felt (Pink, white and black) and a needle and thread (white and black).

Cookie Decorating

This Eid my family and I made and decorated cookies that we could give as gifts to our friends.  The photograph above are just some of the cookies that I designed using a henna style design. Below is me decorating one of the cookies.

The photographs below are some of the cookies that my mum and little sister also helped design. My mum wrote a blog post showing the recipe we used for these. http://www.karimascrafts.com/2015/09/henna-style-decorated-cookies-for-eid.html

We also made and decorated some cookies in a sheep design.

Here is a photograph of the cookies ready to gift.

Watercolor Painting

I have recently joined a local art group and have been learning new art techniques. I have been trying out watercolors and getting a few helpful tips from other members, some of them with decades of experience.

I thought I would share with you some of my recent artwork. A flower painting below.

Another attempt at flower painting below.

Making finishing touches to my latest design below, this is the photo at the top of my post.

Alice in Wonderland Crafts

I have been busy lately on a crafty project. There was a local creative competition to celebrate 150 years of the book Alice in Wonderland. Both me and my sister entered our designs. I decided on doing a teacup design similar to one in the movie. I had to work on different pieces of work and then put them together to make the final piece.

Step 1: I designed the 'Drink Me' bottle. I used a small glass bottle that you can find in most craft stores and filled it with a blue liquid. I used blue facepaint and water mixed together. Then I made a handmade 'drink me' card and placed it on the bottle.

Step 2: Then using FIMO clay I made the Alice in Wonderland figurine.

Step 3: I then decorated a plain white tea-set I already had.  I used a pink sharpie pen to design the cup and then heated it in the oven.

Step 4: I used a spoon and bent it slightly and then glued all the pieces onto the cup and saucer.

My little sister made a canvas design which she also entered into the competition. The photo is below.

Clay Modelling

I have been busy doing some more clay modelling using my FIMO clay I had at home. I had a look on youtube to get some ideas on how to make these shoes. I tried a few different colours. I am still undecided which colour I prefer.

My Craft Studio

I have been so busy for the last month preparing my craft studio.  If you have been following my posts you will have seen my projects. I have been putting together desks and storage and doing a lot of painting including the walls. The walls were originally yellow with patches of other colours. I chose to paint 3 walls white and have a feature wall in Teal. I have done all this on a very small budget so most of the furniture has been donated or from charity shops at bargain prices. I still haven't finished the room as there are still a few other things I need to do including another desk to cover the fireplace but I am not going to rush this so I thought I would do a grand reveal now as so many of my followers have been asking to see the finished result. I really hope you like my room, I can't wait to start doing my crafts in this room.

I tried taking photos around the room in a circle so that you can try to imagine looking at it all in one tour.

Below is a collage of the before photographs.

The now finished room photos.

Please look at my previous posts to see the transformation take place.
